Is this the best green juice for weight loss?

It can be difficult to get the quantities right when making green juices for yourself. Somehow the shop bought varieties always seem to get the flavors just right. This is why we wanted to tell you about Organifi juice mix which you can purchase and make at home, for all of the health benefits of the shop bought juices but without the high price tag. If you think about the total amount you spend per month on buying juices, you get a 30 day supply for less than half of this amount.

The Organifi juice has a pleasant texture and taste, it is convenient when you’re in a rush and can be good when staying away from home for extended periods, such as vacations or business trips. The fact that you can make it up wherever you are is a great benefit, for instance you can make it before leaving home and take it with you to work, dispensing with the need to stop off at a juice bar on the way. It also means you do not have to buy all of the ingredients separately. We rate the high quality ingredients and powerful cleansing and detoxifying properties of the juice.

So what are the ingredients and what are their true health benefits?

Spirulina is a form of blue-green algae that springs from warm, fresh water bodies. This ingredient has superfood status and is an excellent plant based protein source. It is high in iron and calcium. It is 60% protein and an excellent source of vitamins A, K1, K2, B12 and iron, manganese and chromium. The Aztecs first discovered this food in Central America, and they consumed it daily for energy and strength. According to the University of Maryland Medical Center, “A number of animal and test tube studies suggest that spirulina increases production of antibodies, infection-fighting proteins, and other cells that improve immunity and help ward off infection and chronic illnesses such as cancer.” Also because of its protein density it can contribute towards maintenance of a healthy weight.

TurmericTurmeric is the root stalk of a tropical plant that’s part of the ginger family, it is usually found as the main spice in curry, and is arguably the most powerful herb on the planet at fighting and potentially reversing disease. One of the main components of the spice is the yellow pigment called curcumin, which has been found to have healing properties. There have been 6,235 peer-reviewed articles published on the benefits of turmeric and its renowned healing compound curcumin. A 2009 laboratory study in Ireland found that curcumin killed off oesophageal cancer cells.

This spice is also rich in antioxidants, and its anti-inflammatory properties have been compared to those of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS).  Studies have also shown that taking turmeric can relieve symptoms of arthritis.

Moringa Oleifera is rich in antioxidants, and can lower blood sugar levels and reduce inflammation. It can also contribute to lowering high cholesterol.

Matcha is high in antioxidants, containing over 5 times more than any other food. Among antioxidants, catechins are the most potent and beneficial. One specific catechin called epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) makes up 60% of the catechins in matcha green tea. EGCG is most widely recognized for its cancer fighting properties. Antioxidants are also great for giving us healthy, younger looking skin. Matcha can also help to detoxify the body, reduce stress and increase energy levels.

Ashwagandha, also known as Indian Ginseng, has a wide range of health benefits, studies have shown it may have the ability to fight against cancer and diabetes, as well as reduce inflammation, arthritis, asthma, hypertension, stress, and rheumatism. Organifi Green Juice

  • Good value for money
  • Pleasant taste and texture
  • High quality and nutritious ingredients
  • Convenient

  • Must be incorporated into a healthy balanced diet and not expected to be a fix all method for weight loss.

The Verdict: This green juice does contain some nutritious and detoxifying ingredients but such juices should not take the place of a variety of whole fruits and vegetables in your diet. It would be a great addition to a healthy balanced diet and in this way could promote weight loss and feelings of wellness.

  2. This blend has some very good ingredients. Should I just mix it with plain water or is it OK to mix with almond milk to make more of a smoothie consistency? Do you suggest that I take this as a meal replacement? If so, how many times per day?

    1. Hi Victoria,

Thanks for your comment. The juice does have some very good ingredients.

I would suggest using water purely because of the nature of the ingredients that are in the juice. For example, when making my green juice I usually mix it with water but perhaps you could try adding just a dash of almond milk to give more of a smoothie like consistency.

As far as using the juice as a meal replacement, I would suggest if you are doing a juice cleanse then follow the instructions for that, but usually this can be for several days so you would have the juice for every meal. Otherwise, I would suggest only replacing one meal per day with the juice and have it as either your lunch or dinner, depending on what suits you best.

      All the best,
